Shea Butter

Shea butter is a slightly yellowish or ivory colored , Shea Butter extracted from shea nuts from the karite tree which grows in Ghana shea butter is known for its luxurious moisturizing properties and also shows natural sun protection properties. The fat is extracted by boiling up the nuts in water, then grinding into a paste until the oils start to separate,This is tough work, done over an open fire, and traditionally done by women. it takes about 30 hours to produce 4 cups of good quality Shea Butter from trees that can live up to 300 years! After the outer shells of the kernels are removed, they are crushed and roasted, and the butter is kneaded by hand to separate the miracle fatty acids ( shea Butter).
